Way back when…
Almost five years ago now I set up my company and created this logo. I wanted to show the variety in my talent. I choose the picture of Radek Bonk on the motorcycle to show the detail with which I could draw, I choose the image of Joshua Jackson to show the creativity of multiple images, and finally I choose the pieces of Jennifer Jones to show I wasn’t limited to the male gender nor to my own interested.
Although these three images are separate pieces that exist in my collection each was originally drawn for a very different reason.
- Bonk, because I was moving to Ottawa and wanted to draw some of the Senators to get autographs as I’d done while in Edmonton with the Oilers.
- Jackson, was a gift for a friend who was a huge fan of the actor, his portrayal of Pacey, and of the show Dawson’s Creek.
- Jones, drawn as a request from my mother who wanted a picture to get autographed when she went to a curling tournament.
It is interesting how many of the pieces I have completed have interesting stories whether it’s in the original decision to create the piece, in the actual work of drawing the portrait, or in the events that happened after the artwork was complete. More than anything I think it is the stories I ultimately hold on to.
